Introduction
The 1×2 fbt splitter is used to join two or more optical fibers together. The fibers are melted and stretched on a machine with a taper. The change in the splitting ratio is monitored in real-time. Once the requirements are met, the melting and stretching are completed. One end of the splitter is kept. The optical fiber is used as the input end. The other end is used as the output end for multiple channels. The tapering process can only draw less than 1×4 at a time, so for devices above 1×4, multiple 1×2 connections are made. The whole thing is packaged in a splitter box.
